Graves’ disease is an autoimmune thyroid condition in which antibodies stimulate the thyroid to produce excess hormone. It is a common cause of hyperthyroidism.
The condition may also affect the eyes and, less often, the skin. Thyroid levels, heart symptoms, eye findings, medication response, and hormonal transitions all matter.
A very rapid heart rate, chest pain, severe shortness of breath, confusion, high fever, or sudden vision change needs urgent medical assessment.
